t-Archive - ARCHIVING SOLUTION FOR T24 |
PRINCIPLES
The purpose of t-Archive is to move the out-dated data from the on-line database to an off-line one. Archiving is necessary when historical data have to be removed from the live database. If the data have to be stored before deletion, then they are copied into the archiving system.
The ITSS archiving solution relies on T24 core archiving features supported by especially developed routines and parameters tables to handle core tables not supported by the T24 standard archiving component and the locally developed tables.
Thus, the tables to be archived are of classified in the 3 following categories:
- Core tables (covered by core archival process)
- Core new ( not covered by core archival process, new local dev)
- Local tables (not covered by local archival by factory, new local dev)

BENEFITS
PERFORMANCE
On the live system, keeping available only the data required for the daily operation will increase the overall system performance, indeed, this will have the following benefits:
- Reduce time of on-line backup data
- Improve online enquiries
- Improve COB performance
- Reduce restore time
- Improve system responsiveness and user experience
Besides, t-Archive takes advantage of T24 multithreading capabilities, thus maximizing the usage of available resources.
ACCESSING ARCHIVES
The archived data is accessible for T24 as any other data, but for performance issue and securing access to the data, it is highly recommended to move the archived to an external database, such as a data warehouse.
